Is COD declining?

So many years of the same game over and over. First it was the same engine, then they ruin the story. Then remaster after remaster.

I love COD, but not like it since COD MWII. Zombies wasn't great, I loved DMZ, but they killed that. Warzone isn't that great anymore. The new map also.

I'm hoping Battlefield new game makes them make a better COD again
Instead of all the rehashed micro transactions skin game.

Dude good call because I've been asking myself about this same thing not only for COD but generally for FPS genre.

IMO their focus on multiplayer should shift; what about an open world Call of Duty? Think of the possibilities if Activision makes a Wildlands like game.

And as you said too much reliance on microtransactions which is 👎

Personally I always come back with my experience with the original COD4 on 360 & how they should build upon that or expand that like maybe create a Solid Snake / Splinter main so they can different things with him ie open world spy game you know what I'm saying.

I am spending less and less time with COD games, for a few reasons:

  • Battle Pass/MTX ads
  • Introduction of wall running/jet packs
  • Zombies
  • Warzone
  • Shorter campaigns
  • Complicated UI
I would love for them to go back to the days of COD 2, COD 4. I feel like I am not alone in thinking that they have lost focus on the IP. I understand they need to appeal to new audiences. Maybe I just need to take the hint, and I need to move on. At this point, I end up buying the game for Team Death Match, maybe 2 hours at a time, once every 2 months.

Well, my interest might have declined a bit but then again I've been playing every COD for the past 4 or 5 years since MW19, but I did spend less hours playing MW3, not a fan of that game and MW2 as well, loved Cold War though and going to give it a try with Black Ops 6, that said, we keep seeing in the news that every single COD just breaks records and sales are insane every single year so

CoD and I have a very specific relationship.

I love it, I play it religiously and I grind out all the guns, do all the camo challenges and get really invested in it.

Then after a few games or one really bad game, I swear off it. Never again will I fall into the trap.

Then the next title comes out, brimming with promise and like a sucker I fall back in.

Now during this period I'll either get a game I love and re-ignites my love of the series (Black Ops 1 / 2, Modern Warfare 2019, MW3) or I'll get one I hate and it stops me playing during that cycle (Ghosts, WW2, Vanguard, Black Ops 4)

Funny enough during the cycle of games I bounce off because I hate them, I always wind up going over to Battlefield (lol at me for going over during 2042)
