There was other contributing factors that mafia 3 didn't get the reception players had hoped. It's really interesting how the fact they stated that it was fully open world was said as though it was fact, you can very much say the same about gta 3 being the originator of all things open world n how bare it was in terms of things to do from a gameplay standpoint other than storymissions and sub missions in today's lens yet it achieved success and applauded by all today.
In terms of mafia 3, bad glitches, real bad optimisation on consoles n pc, very repetitive missions where each district had the same copy n paste gameplay, limited character customisation like you could from mafia 2, the game felt rushed out where it surely didn't deserve to go gold when the game barely barely felt complete.
Haden Blackman left the studio so soon just after the game shipped knowing the game needed more time to cook. 😡
