Need help deciding. New World Aternum or Genshin Impact

One is F2P with gotcha and the other is pay up front. But the real question is which should I invest time in. Really enjoyed the New World console beta. But have always wanted to give Genshin Impact a go. The problem is with all the other games releasing I don’t have time to give both a try this year. What do you love about either title? What do you dislike?

I need to try Scarlett Nexus again. I got a pretty good run started but at the time I was not ready for the high school maturity level for relationships. I’ve come to appreciate parts of Japanese games more for what they are trying to accomplish in that.

I would say none. These types of games are just overinflated content treadmills that keep you trapped. If you're looking for an anime game, I recommend Scarlet Nexus instead. If you're looking for a medieval RPG, there's a huge list to chose from.
I will say, the beta for New World had a better than expected narrative element; not as good as most single-player focused games but decent enough and the PvE focus nature of the re-release seems to be able to be enjoyed as a single-player experience.

What fantasy games would you recommend. I’ve enjoyed Dragons Dogma 2, The Witcher 3, FF16, Baldur’s Gate 3 (course that’s worth a replay), Diablo IV. But I find Skyrim too old and combat not enjoyable.

I liked Dragon's Dogma 2, but it was too repetitive and the story had no consequences. If you liked BG3, I recommend Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2.
If you liked FF16, i strongly recommend 7 Remake and Rebirth. Also Stellar Blade is a bit similar in combat and flashiness.
Also, If you liked Dragon's Dogma 2 you might enjoy Monster Hunter World. It's different but it has a lot of the common elements when fighting the big monsters.

I enjoyed 7 remake but also remember so many empty corridors! Rebirth and Stellar Blade are both on my list. I couldn’t justify those both at launch this year so I’m Waiting for a Christmas sale :)

you know the game that really surprised me recently? Atlas Fallen. Obviously, better performance so far after release. It was a really good AA game with a semi-interesting story and decent combat mechanics.

Someone in another thread may have convinced me to go and play Elden Ring again. What a tremendous game. I am probably a better gamer (skill wise) than I was before that game.

Honestly, Genshin has some pretty piss poor Gacha rewards but the story is amazing. I genuinely love the adventures of Paimon and Aether

I would skip either. Genshin Impact is a money sucking black hole and New World is basically dead.

Try another open world single player game.
